Osram Sylvania Scrap recovery pit expansion This expansion consisted of two new collection pits and 85 lf of additional scrap tunnel utilizing tilt-up panel design. This design minimized the exposure of the operating glass plant to the construction area and safety risk to Bristol’s crew and maximized the final floor space of the production areas. Panels were poured while excavation was underway, greatly reducing construction time compared to conventional systems. Collection pits and tunnel were covered by checkered plate supported by beams welded to embeds cast into the panels. Structural demolition, concrete, and structural ironwork were all performed by Bristol’s crews.
