Bristol Group was engaged by a well known highway and bridge contractor to construct this sound barrier for the Commonwealth of Kentucky as part of an on-going urban renewal project in Lexington.

Project Specs
Building Type and Size: Bridge and Highway
Location: Lexington, KY
Owner/Client: Commonwealth of Kentucky
Construction Cost: Less than $1,000,000
Delivery Method: Plan Spec
Schedule: 3 months
Completion: 2012

Prestressed precast columns and panels were utilized for the wall stretching over ½ mile and approximately 24 ft in height resulting in over 51,000 sf of wall. The panel sections incorporated a stone look on the public side via an elastomeric liner panel the fresh concrete was placed against. Due to limited construction access, Bristol Group coordinated trucking closely with the jobsite and provided “just in time “ deliveries of the precast units to erection crew. Total concrete used over 1,000 cyds. All fabricated and erected in just over 3 months.
